Should the WRC be taken to smaller regions as with the 2007 year

  • If it is only 1 Round should be in a smaller region due to extra transport costs
  • Smaller regions are allowing the public to see more of the sport
  • Can be difficult to get too
  • Only if cost equalization is part of the WRC program and it would still be a logistical nightmare for teams requiring air travel.
  • Neutral. If there’s no big hassles transport, accommodation and suitable venue. Sweetas not like were losing door takings or sponsors.
  • The theory behind this idea is good but it is not that practical
  • Yes At lest one smaller region
  • Would agree if feasible

Neutral

Should the WRC be located only in areas that can be directly flown into eg Chch, Wellington

  • I think NZWR needs to weigh up costs for regions but overall regional champs need to move between the regions to promote the sport in these smaller areas. Just need a balance of where teams have to travel each year. Or make up some kind of cost equalisation scheme.
  • Yes, sad to say but getting team or teams to smaller centres is a nightmare
  • Yes, but successful bids to hold events and dates out early for people to take advantage of cheaper flights
  • Yes, makes it easier for teams
  • It does help when driving is not an option

Should NZWR consider some form of cost equalisation to make the cost of attendance as part of the WRC programme the same for everyone

Comments

  • Yes definitely. I think we somehow need to think about this for the future of the sport
  • Yes there should be some form of cost equalisation because it is a little unfair that Christchurch have to travel north so often to attend. But also it seems to us that the cost of Nationals is a lot more expensive than other tournaments – why?
  • Do u know if there are major differences now?? Can b a lot of work 4 not much gain
  • Yes, Christchurch had to fly to all WRC in 2007
  • Yes But on a team basis not a province
  • Only if they persist in having tournaments in smaller regions.
  • This was the idea behind the WRC Agree, A fair system is hard to design.

Do you believe that the Nationals should/ would support have two divisions

Comments

  • Yes I think we need to try and redevelop a two division system to encourage participation of both weaker regions and stronger regions two team systems.
  • If enough teams
  • Depends on entries, should be encouraged
  • Not enough teams to make it viable.
  • Ideally but don’t think there is enough teams
  • there are not enough teams to have two divisions, need to work on all teams entering and having full/strong line ups
  • Yes to two divisions. Even if the second division is a 3.5 Low point division!
  • No not enough 8 point teams or H.P players. Maybe run something along the line of low pointers division, heaps of keen L.Ps who aren’t in the No1 line-ups.
  • This would be a good idea
  • Yes with improved membership
  • I would agree if it meant a guaranteed (B) team from each region e.g. Waikato, Ak, Cant, Mana and Wellington allowing for imports in both A & B teams
  • Yes to two divisions. Low pointers second division 3.5

What improvements, comments, likes etc do you have regarding the website

1. Needs restructuring – news section particularly. Not a very inviting home page – very all over the place

2. Put a Blog on there and For Sale type things (Rugby chairs etc.)

3. Very pleased with how it is progressing and the rate at which it is progressing. Jon and Cherie should be commended. I think we are leading the world in terms of quality. Eventually I would like to see all info posted here and here only.

4. We love the photos, but find some of the information old and not kept up to date

5. Often is too slow or get 404 error page not found. Maybe include some video footage of games, crahses etc or a web forum (not sure if it would work though)

6. Improvement Video capabilities at least download games ( Rugby, tennis what ever the sport. The structure is ok, reasonable to navigate around, I do think it should be more accessible or user friendly for the various disabilities other than quads/ para’s or AB’s.I enjoy the photos from the games. I would like to see athlete feed backs experience on various events

7. Maybe a forum would be interesting. Better access to player profiles. Like this http://www.allblacks.com/index.cfm?layout=team player diarys etc.

8. Would like to see more updates in the committees progress, what they are working on Transparency in their decisions

9. I don’t like the layout

10. Lots of info, showing results, attach to attitude programme, job vacancies, news re players, board and committee minutes – always nice to hear whats going on or what committee thinking

11. Quite well designed and easy to navigate around

12. Overall, I like the idea of an NZWR website. It is the one tangible thing we can offer Sponsors etc. As time goes by it will become increasingly important as the medium for all members to look at for information. Photos etc. What I don’t like is the free advertising offered by News Head lines eg, Melrose Chairs website.

13. The homepage is difficult to navigate around

14. Post tournament info and entry forms earlier to make it easier to apply for funding for teams to attend

15. The USA have a section for viewers questions and answers. Interesting reading at times. Also maybe have a nutrition programme and drills for club or players to study

  1. Photos/ tournament information

  18. Yes, it is time for modern update
  19. Yes I like the new logo
  20. Yes absolutely...about time
  21. Yes I really like the logo, and I think it is a good idea to have a separate one from the wheelblacks
  22. Yes, time for a change
  23. Yes support the new logo concept, needs an update
  24. Yes I Support the new logo
  25. Yes I think the new logos are a good idea
  26. Yes I’m in favour of a new wheel black logo

  1. Yes Overall love the new logos – I think they are great. Just one concern about the letterhead one – it is portrait rather than a landscape shaped logo and this may be a problem on the letterheads. Wastes a lot more space and doesn’t look as good as a landscape letterhead.
  2. Yes it great letterhead logo. I’m not going to be PC here but we are a NZ team not a NZ maori team
  3. Yes I support a new logo. I like the wheelblacks logo but am a bit iffy on the other
  4. Yes NZWR logo idea looks great. Wheel blacks looks a little like a possum

  1. No
  2. No
  3. No it looks like a bunch of rubbishy squigle
  4. No Not really
  5. No I think the existing logo is fine

  1. Why not use the Wheelblacks Logo as at the end of the day the Wheelblacks are a NZWR team.I don’t like the proposed NZWR logo but really like the Wheelblacks one

Comments

Please add your thoughts about the proposed design and whether you agree with changes to the logo.

  1. Overall I agree with changes but we should perhaps rethink the letterhead logo and adjust accordingly
  2. Yes I agree the new logo’s should be adapted as they stand. I am fine with the ‘association’ and the ‘a’ staying on the logo, as it is on the constitution.
  3. Agree who made it its great
  4. Agree
  5. I like the new NZWR one as long as with words instead of NZWRA. Not sure about Wheel Blacks. The hand is massive. I took it off and liked it better. Not sure about tail thing either
  6. We like the new modern one but are not so keen on the taniwha design but think it represents the Wheelblacks well. Also on the NZWR, we feel the complete name (New Zealand Wheelchair Rugby) rather than just the initials (NZWR).
  7. Yes
  8. The new designs don’t look Professional nor reflect anything that is current in design, they look 70’s’sh. If the underlying text wasn’t present, id have a difficult time figuring out any of the images and associating it to wheelchair rugby. They look like they were made in a rush and unfinished. The taniwha logos have unclean lines. Not too sure what to make of the logo with curves
  9. I like the Maori Logo Black jpg I like the changes, Black background and white logo for a black shirt/singlet and the other one for a white shirt/singlet
  10. I love them both...do it!
  11. Great design
  12. Changes are fine, and it looks good
  13. Like the NZWR logo, looks smart and Represents NZ
  14. I like both logos as they are both new and fresh. I really like the Wheel Black one as it is very New Zealand and will suit the game
  15. It’s a great design and very current for the letterhead. Sorry but I have no ideas for the WB logo. Maybe someone like Steve Guthrie could be asked to submit an idea as an ex-player and I think he is a graphic designer also.
  16. I quite like it
  17. It has a feel to the logo, the explanation is great.
  18. Excellent design and interpretation
  19. The design of the new logo’s are great. NZWR LOGO with the fern is great and the Wheel blacks logo black moari design is awesome!!!
  20. I LIKE THE FERN but the rest looks like a bunch of moons in different phases. The top moon which indicates the head looks out of sink with the rest of the design. I can appreciate the symbolism of the wheelchair shape but the ball looks like a quad gut.
  21. Proposed logos suck, many of the public and more importantly sponsors/charities are starting to recognise and associate these two logos with NZWR & the Wheel Blacks. Consistency with the current logos will, and is reaping rewards, re; branding
  22. I like the black Taniwha some dreadlocks would set it off.
  23. It looks good and I like how it incorporates a Maori aspect as well as the wheelchair rugby look
  24. I think the Wheelblack logo needs to have the words New Zealand
  25. I’m in favour of retaining the existing NZWR logo. If it’s not broken don’t fix it. Don’t like the proposed wheel black one either. (Sorry to be negative. Just being honest.)
  26. I reckon it looks fineChange is good
  27. They both look good, if I had to choose one I would go for the stylistic one

Membership to NZWR

Agree

Disagree

Do you feel that $20 is an acceptable fee for member ship to NZWR

Comments

  • I think it is fair – possibly may even put it up. We need to ensure someone is checking off players at WRC and Nationals with memberships payed up as I believe there may have been players playing last year who were not current members. This is not fair on players who are paying their subs. Also need to ensure all refs and classifiers and committee members are current members – I know they volunteer their time and we cannot do without them but we provide funding for them to get to events etc and provide training so they should be paying their fees. Although I believe that each region should be responsible for covering the costs of their own volunteers and this should include refs etc. Also need to ensure that all team members away at a tournament are fully paid up members – we need to outline that anyone involved with a team at any NZWR Tournament needs to be a member. Again this was not happening last year.
  • I don't think $100 is to much to ask for an individual. Maybe chuck in a free tshirt with the new logo on it perhaps or stickers
  • Yes could be higher
  • Yes acceptable but another 5-10 bucks wouldn’t hurt. As all other clubs/associations are 3 times NZWR.
  • $20.00 is pretty cheap. If it was $50.00 with the proviso that it go into something like coaching for clubs or holding more tourney or encouraging promising players

Agree

Disagree

Would you support an a ‘associate’ membership for family/friends etc (at no cost), to improve the membership numbers and opportunities for sponsorship

  • This is vital if we are to secure funding in the future. The more members we have the better
  • Minimal cost eg $1 I think that is a legal definition for a membership
  • A token cost to cover admin is acceptable
  • Good options for increasing opportunities for better funding
  • No, I think they should pay something even $10 as this will
  • No - $20 isn’t that much
  • I think that there should be some cost. Could be $10
  • $10.00 for each associate member
